Western State Hospital

ACES installed the first Alerton IBEX control system at Western State Hospital in 1996. 15 years later, a control system for the new hospital was needed and in 2011 ACES was awarded the contract for the Building Automation System for the new hospital. In 2013 the owner moved into his 356,000 square foot hospital.

Improved Efficiency

The controls programmer installed over 70 Alerton VLC DDC Controllers.

Ease of Doing Business

ACES led the installation in 1996 and 2011, allowing one source to manage the project.

Rapid Response

Quickly integrating the large number of interfaces that were required for completion.

The unique aspect of this job is the large number of interfaces that were required. There are interfaces to 14 different systems using BACnet over 44 Ethernet connections and 9 BACnet MSTP communications trunks. One of the challenges was to interface to 773 indoor LG variable refrigerant fan coil units. Another challenge was the interface to multiple electrical systems which are not typically BACnet compatible such as emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, lighting panels, and energy meters.
